    When I explain a patient about the loss of Cartilage and Arthritis they’re at a loss and find it difficult to imagine or visualise the problem. This picture explains the problem in a simple way.
    The above picture shows the white glistening Cartilage at the end of Bone responsible for smooth function. The picture down shows that there is loss of Cartilage with exposed bone. That’s what happens in Osteoarthritis. The smooth glistening Cartilage is destroyed due to wear and tear leading to pain, stiffness, difficulty in walking and later on deformity.

    Elbow Replacement -Elbow is a complex joint and Elbow Fractures require meticulous planning and management to get the best possible results. We may perform a perfect surgical fixation but if the functional result is suboptimal then the surgery is a failure from patient’s point of view.
    Seeing a problem from patient’s point of view helps in decision making as in this elderly but active lady with fracture of the elbow joint we decided to do Elbow Replacement surgery. The results after a year are really gratifying with the patient having full painless range of motion and can happily perform her daily tasks.
    Elbow Replacement is performed on advanced arthritis, Rheumatoid elbows communited Fractures in Osteoporotic bones in elderly. Performed correctly it gives excellent results on patients with low demands.

    Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction ( Knee Arthroscopy)-Ligament injuries of Knee are commonly seen in young active persons caused due to sports trauma or road accidents. Patients complain of Instability, locking, pain while performing sports activities or even on doing daily tasks. Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is the commonest ligament of the knee joint which gets injured.
    Treatment is essential not just for the present disability but also to prevent further secondary damage and progression to arthritis. Treatment – ACL tear in young symptomatic patients are treated by Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction. This is a biological procedures where natural ACL is reconstructed. Once the ligament heals there is no restriction on any activity and patient can go back to even sports and vigorous activities

    HTO is an effective and biological treatment for the management of early medial compartment arthritis. It involves correcting the mechanical axis of the knee joint by doing osteotomy of Proximal Tibia. The advantages of this procedure is that the natural joint is retained and once the osteotomy heals the patient is allowed to perform all activities without any restriction. This is a boon for young active people with arthritis.
